Guardians of The Garden - a Youth Empowerment and Nature Connection Journey

All too quickly children lose their sense of wonder and discovery in today's busy world.

  • What if there is a way to keep it alive?
  • What if there is a way for young people today to be happy, confident, self aware, compassionate, creative and shine their own light in the world?

All of this is possible and Guardians of The Garden offers a path!

Kids are faced with increasing levels of stress and little opportunity to get the fresh air and exercise they need.  Obesity, inability to focus, ADHD and depression are at all time highs in our children today and it has been shown that reconnecting with nature can relieve these symptoms.  In fact, some believe it is this absence of nature that can lie at the core of many of their troubles.

Parents, too, have increased demands on their time making it difficult for them to engage in nature with their kids on a regular basis.  This difficulty is enhanced by the disappearance of the natural world from our neighborhoods and communities as development gets ever more dense and towns cannot afford the upkeep of parks and wild spaces. Yet the wild world is still there.  Have you heard a bird sing, seen a dandelion burst through a crack in the sidewalk or touched the rough bark of a tree?  When we build our observation skills we realize we are not alone in this world. Guardians of The Garden is here to offer an opportunity to reconnect with the greater world of which we are a part.

Guardians of The Garden is 6 weeks of wonder and self discovery for your child - and yourself - by exploring nature in a unique and personal way right where you are. You and your child will explore both the natural world and the wild within, reconnecting with nature and your true self.  By discovering nature right where they are kids can engage in activities through the week which build their sense of self worth, bring joy and cultivate leadership qualities. Then in weekly meetings, they come together to share their journeys with each other. Using nature connection, storytelling and art children are allowed to hold on to the magic in the world and use it to support their growth, expression and resilience.

Together, in community, we begin to rebuild a Culture of Connection. With Self. With Others. With the Whole. In Nature. Online.

“If getting our kids out into nature is one more chore, then the chore defeats the joy. It's a good thing to learn more about nature in order to share this knowledge with children; it's even better if the adult and child learn about nature together. And it's a lot more fun.”

― Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder

The Guardians of The Garden program gives kids a foundation to explore their current stage in life to its fullest. They build life-long, life-enhancing skills of self-love, assurance, creativity and compassion. They connect with their inner guidance and true creative self, coming to understand their gifts and challenges, finding inner happiness and daily joy.

At the end of the course we celebrate & pay tribute to their journey. In this way we honor what each child has attained and we stand in witness of their blossoming beauty and strength.

Cultures around the world recognize the significance of these milestone moments and acknowledge them through ceremony and ritual helping the child transition into who they are becoming.

Marking these times in your child's life will have a profound affect on you and your relationship with your child, as well. You will acquire a deeper understanding of their spirit and learn how to best support them on their path. They will find in you a confidant; someone who gets them.
